How does SynthaSite make money?

We’ve been hearing this question recently from the SynthaSite community and thought that now was as good a time as any to answer it for you.

Without giving away all of the details of our business plan, we can tell you that you’ll start to see us work a variety of monetization strategies into the product over the next 12 months.

Some of them will be fairly straight forward, such as selling domain names to users who want them (e.g., www.yourwebsite.com). Others will be more novel, such as partnering with other companies to offer you special services, like search engine marketing, appointment scheduling, local advertising, etc.

These companies want you as a user of their services and will pay us for referring you to them. In addition, we are also planning on launching our own advertising network, that will allow our users to get paid for placing advertising on their websites from our advertisers - yes, you will be able to make money from your website!! We have a whole bunch of ideas like this, but these should give you a feel for where we’re going.

  1. When will we be able to use our own templates and put a blog on our websites.

  2. I’m looking forward to making money from my site via advertising other than Google Ads (not that there’s anything with Google Ads).
Also, would it be possible to have more templates orientated around vertical menus rather than the horizontal ones such as above? and possibly some more coloured variations of the current designs.

With regards to the comment above, you could just put a link to your blog on the page of your website. Failing that, i think you can embed your blog via HTML. I found a forum topic on another website here (http://www.bloggerforum.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=15374)
I’m not sure about the specifics though. Hope it helps.

  3. Great suggestions, skineddy. Styles with vertical menus are often more flexible. We will certainly look for more of these. We intend to add extra colour palettes for all our styles as well.

Thanks for the tip about linking to an existing blog!

  4. “These companies want you as a user of their services and will pay us for referring you to them.”

so, uh, spamming your userbase is a monetization strategy?

  5. SynthaSite does not sell or share any of our user email addresses with any of our partners. We hate spam as much as you do!

By partnering with companies and providing links to them within SynthaSite, we are able to promote these businesses and their products and earn a share of their revenues, provided our users are interested in purchasing their services (for instance, Genbook.com).

We strive to allow our users to find services they like, in an un-obtrusive fashion. Our primary goal is user satisfaction!

  18. Vinny,

Please Vinny, please, when you add the new items just “don’t” make it as bloated as google or type pad did, they would add a new item and if they didn’t think enough people were using it the would just delete it and if you were using it your content went with it.
I do like what I see and will put up a site shortly.
I have one question, “How do you link to another site?”

    Thanks Joe
