We’ll be upgrading our servers on Thursday, July 17th between 1am and 5am PST.  During this time you will not be able to publish any changes you make to your site.  You will still be able to work on your site and save your changes, but will have to come back after 5am PST to publish your site so those changes will be updated on your live website.

If you already have a published website, it will stay up during this time and your visitors will not be affected.

We are excited to announce the release of the improved Site Builder. These improvements will make your website building experience quicker and easier than ever before!

What to expect from this release:

• Easy access to tools you use most often
• More screen space to work on your site
• Quick navigation between sites and pages
• Simple and elegant look and feel
• Friendly welcome page with list of sites that you are working on
• Quicker access to your site after logging in
• Ability to add metadata to your pages

Don’t worry, you will be able to access all your sites interface and your published sites will remain live, so your visitors will still be able to visit your sites.

The support team worked hard to make sure that there are updated tutorials and a glossary of terms to help you along and they are ready answer any questions that you may have.

Apart from working hard on improving the interface, we also added two new features:

1. Google Webmaster configuration
Google Webmaster Tools provide you with detailed reports about your pages’ visibility on Google. To get started, simply add and verify your site, and you’ll start to see information right away. To get started, simply sign up with Google Webmaster, verify your site and then add your page properties in the Site Builder.

2. Flickr Lightbox Widget
This widget provides an attractive and intuitive way for displaying photographs on your site. It is a great way for photographers and artists to showcase their works. You can find this widget in the Site Builder, in the sidebar under “Photo Galleries”.

We’re making some exciting changes to our user interface and need to take down the site builder this Thursday (July 10, 2008) between 1am and 4am PST.  During this time, you will not be able to make changes or updates to your sites.  Your published sites will stay up and your visitors will still be able to visit your sites.

We only picked up on this news, when Webuser posted their online review. It is a nice comparison of web builders, so if you haven’t signed up with SynthaSite and you are considering the different website builders that are out there, then have a look!

SynthaSite is upgrading a server component on Friday (20 June 2008) morning and need to take the SynthaSite Site Builder offline between 1am and 2am PST.  During this time, you will not be able to log in and make changes or updates to your sites.  Your published sites will be unaffected.

We’ve been hearing this question recently from the SynthaSite community and thought that now was as good a time as any to answer it for you.

Without giving away all of the details of our business plan, we can tell you that you’ll start to see us work a variety of monetization strategies into the product over the next 12 months.

Some of them will be fairly straight forward, such as selling domain names to users who want them (e.g., www.yourwebsite.com). Others will be more novel, such as partnering with other companies to offer you special services, like search engine marketing, appointment scheduling, local advertising, etc.

These companies want you as a user of their services and will pay us for referring you to them. In addition, we are also planning on launching our own advertising network, that will allow our users to get paid for placing advertising on their websites from our advertisers - yes, you will be able to make money from your website!! We have a whole bunch of ideas like this, but these should give you a feel for where we’re going.

We have completed the scheduled maintenance and the SynthaSite services are back in working order. It took a little longer that initially anticipated - thank you for your patience.

As promised there was no downtime on the published (hosted) sites.

We are aware of a known issue which occurred as a result of the changes we made - image editing from within the Site Builder will currently not work. This is being worked on and we will let you know when it is resolved.
